We Are the Apocalypse - Dark Funeral (2022)
Band di lunga esperienza, gli svedesi Dark Funeral sono attivi dal 1993, e questo è il loro settimo album (ma non ricordo di averli mai ascoltati prima d'ora). Vengono da Stoccolma, molti membri (attuali e del passato, hanno avuto molti cambi di formazione) si dichiarano satanisti, di conseguenza, le liriche (ma questo non è per niente sorprendente per una band che fa black metal) vertono su satanismo e anti-cristianità. La forma è abbastanza prevedibile, per questo album, e credo di non offendere nessuno se la definisco più blackened che black metal, in quanto, a parte i parametri classici, non mancano le melodie ed i riferimenti all'heavy metal classico. Un buon album, ben fatto, ma niente di particolarmente esaltante.
Long-time band, the Swedes Dark Funeral have been around since 1993, and this is their seventh album (but I don't remember hearing them before). They come from Stockholm, many members (current and past, have had many line-up changes) declare themselves Satanists, consequently, the lyrics (but this is not at all surprising for a band that does black metal) focus on Satanism and anti-Christianity. The shape is quite predictable, for this album, and I think I do not offend anyone if I call it more blackened than black metal, as, apart from the classic parameters, there is no lack of melodies and references to classic heavy metal. A good album, well done, but nothing particularly exciting.
