Jenny Hval, classe 1980 nata a Tvedestrand, Norvegia, ha un curriculum quantomeno interessante. A 19 anni canta in una band gothic metal. Studia performance e scrittura creativa in Australia, e là canta in due band, incidendo un EP. Torna in patria e debutta con un altro EP sotto il nome di Rockettothesky; con questo nome, pubblica due album. Nel 2011 debutta con il suo nome di battesimo con un album intitolato Medea. Apre per St. Vincent, pubblica tre romanzi, inaugura un paio di progetti musicali collaterali. Questo Classic Objects è l'ottavo album a suo nome, ed è, al contrario del titolo, un oggetto strano, delicato, onirico, che spazia dal free jazz al reggae, punteggiato da una voce dalle tonalità squillanti, che spesso sfocia nel falsetto, ma sempre misuratissima.
