Eyes of Oblivion - The Hellacopters (2022)

Ottavo album, a distanza di 14 anni dal precedente Head Off, per una delle mie band preferite, gli svedesi Hellacopters, che, come ricorderete, si erano ufficialmente sciolti nel 2008, dopo un tour d'addio. Ma nel 2016, complice la reunion per il ventesimo anniversario del loro debutto Supershitty to the Max!, una cosa tira l'altra, il mutuo da pagare, ed eccoli di nuovo insieme come band, a comporre nuove canzoni (tra l'altro, Head Off era un disco di cover) alla tenera età media di 50 anni. Il risultato è quello che ci si poteva ampiamente aspettare: dieci tracce per quasi 35 minuti di rock and roll elettrico, moltissime reminiscenze delle loro cose del passato, niente di eccezionale ma il segnale che sono ancora vivi, e devo dire, a me questo basta e fa piacere.

Eighth album, 14 years after the previous Head Off, for one of my favorite bands, the Swedish Hellacopters, who, as you may recall, officially disbanded in 2008, after a farewell tour. But in 2016, thanks to the reunion for the twentieth anniversary of their debut album Supershitty to the Max!, one thing led to another, the mortgage to pay, and here they are together again as a band, composing new songs (among other things, Head Off was a cover record) at the tender average age of 50. The result is what could have been widely expected: ten tracks for almost 35 minutes of electric rock and roll, lots of reminiscences of their things from the past, nothing exceptional but the signal that they are still alive, and I must say, that's enough for me. And it's nice.
