Pyromania - Def Leppard (1983)

Oggi invece facciamo un lungo passo indietro, fino al 1983, per parlare del terzo disco della band di Sheffield, UK, un disco dall'enorme successo, che fu poi surclassato dal successore Hysteria. Mette i brividi realizzare che il disco in questione ha 38 anni, ma questa è un'altra storia. Il disco, inquadrato appunto come predecessore di quello che ad oggi rimane il più grande successo della band e, anche a livello globale, un disco che ha fatto storia, mostra la band in una fase di passaggio, da un hard rock che veniva definito a volte glam solo per le cotonature dei capelli dei componenti dalla band, che era molto debitore verso quello soprattutto degli AC/DC [L'apertura di Rock Rock (Till You Drop) è sintomatica, ma non solo], a quello più pop proprio dei Def Leppard che seguirà, fatto di molte ballate romantiche, ma anche di canzoni energiche ed estremamente orecchiabili. C'è da dire, con il senno di poi, che l'alchimia è già praticamente raggiunta: anche questo Pyromania è un disco contenente dieci tracce, nell'edizione originale, dieci potenziali singoli, con alcune canzoni che rimarranno nelle scalette dei Def Leppard fino ad oggi (Too Late For Love, Foolin', Rock of Ages, Photograph). 

Today, however, we take a long step back, until 1983, to talk about the third album of the band from Sheffield, UK, a record with enormous success, which was then outclassed by the successor Hysteria. It's creepy to realize the record in question is 38 years old, but that's another story. The record, framed precisely as the predecessor of what remains the band's greatest success to date and, even globally, a record that made history, shows the band in a transition phase, from a hard rock that was defined to sometimes glam only for the backcombing of the hair of the members of the band, which was very indebted to that especially of AC/DC [The opening of Rock Rock (Till You Drop) is symptomatic, but not only], to the more pop one of Def Leppard that will follow, made up of many romantic ballads, but also of energetic and extremely catchy songs. It must be said, with hindsight, that alchemy is already practically achieved: this Pyromania is also an album containing ten tracks, in the original edition, ten potential singles, with some songs that will remain in the Def Leppard live setlist until today (Too Late For Love, Foolin ', Rock of Ages, Photograph).
