Be Right Back - Jorja Smith (2021)
Non è ancora il secondo album, per la giovane promessa dell'RNB inglese, perché questo Be Right Back è da considerare un EP, seppure con otto tracce, ma al momento basta per confermare quanto di buono espresso in occasione del suo debutto; otto tracce ben bilanciate, tra (come appunto già detto) RNB, trip-hop, soul e jazz, in cerca di un marchio di fabbrica, qualcosa che la renda personale e riconoscibile. Di certo c'è che preferisce un approccio minimale, non si mette troppo in mostra ma la voce è molto bella, sta lavorando sulla forma-canzone più che su uno sperimentalismo che faccia sensazione. Continuiamo a tenerla d'occhio.
It is not yet the second album, for the young promise of the English RNB, because this Be Right Back is to be considered an EP, albeit with eight tracks, but at the moment it is enough to confirm the good things expressed on the occasion of her debut; eight well-balanced tracks, including (as already mentioned) RNB, trip-hop, soul and jazz, in search of a trademark, something that makes it personal and recognizable. What is certain is that she prefers a minimal approach, she does not show herself too much but the voice is very beautiful, she is working on the song-form rather than on an experimentalism that creates sensation. We continue to keep an eye on her.
