Off the Soundboard: Tokyo 2001 - Kiss (2021)
Qualcuno di voi si e mi chiederà che senso ha parlare di un disco dal vivo dei Kiss, tra l'altro una registrazione risalente a 20 anni fa (ma ricordiamoci che sono ancora in attività, seppure con due "rimpiazzi" leggermente più giovani). La risposta è che, come ho scritto fin troppe volte, sono enormemente debitore a questa band, quindi mi fa piacere ascoltarli sempre. Registrazione non troppo ritoccata, qualche sbavatura, alla batteria non Peter Criss ma Eric Singer, alla chitarra Ace Frehley. Scaletta molto ben bilanciata tra grandi classici, e qualche canzone più "recente", i soliti stucchevoli assoli (batteria e chitarra), nonché i duetti tra Stanley ed il pubblico, ma la forza e la bellezza delle tracce è sempre lì. Anche per novizi.
Some of you will and will ask me what is the point of talking about a Kiss live record, among other things a recording dating back 20 years ago (but remember that they are still in business, albeit with two slightly younger "replacements"). The answer is that, as I have written too many times, I am enormously indebted to this band, so I enjoy listening to them all the time. Not too retouched recording, some smudges, not Peter Criss on drums but Eric Singer, Ace Frehley on guitar. Very well balanced lineup between great classics, and some more "recent" songs, the usual cloying solos (drums and guitar), as well as duets between Stanley and the audience, but the strength and beauty of the tracks is always there. Even for novices.
