No Gods, No Masters - Garbage (2021)
Settimo disco per i Garbage, altro esempio di similitudine calzante tra il buon vino e la buona musica. Naturalmente, non sto gridando al miracolo, No Gods, No Masters è un disco gradevole, ci ricorda che le radici dei Garbage partono dal periodo grunge ma affondano ben più indietro, spesso si apprezza l'influenza new wave, qualche reminiscenza industrial, il tutto sostenuto da chitarroni hard rock quasi metal, mentre la voce di Shirley Manson è sempre un valore aggiunto. Detto del fatto che c'è quasi più critica religiosa qua che su un qualsiasi disco dei Behemoth, bisogna pure dire che, sul disco bonus della Deluxe edition, oltre a vari singoli con ospitate interessanti (Brody Dalle, Screaming Females, Brian Aubert, John Doe e Exene Cervenka), ci sono due cover, di due canzoni tra le più inflazionate della storia del rock, Starman e Because the Night: ecco, due versioni tra le più intense, sentite e trascinanti che mi sia capitato di ascoltare.
Seventh album for Garbage, another example of a fitting similarity between good wine and good music. Of course, I'm not shouting for a miracle, No Gods, No Masters is a pleasant record, it reminds us that the roots of Garbage start from the grunge period but pick far back, often we appreciate the new wave influence, some industrial reminiscence, supported by almost metal hard rock guitars, while Shirley Manson's voice is always an added value. Having said that there is almost more religious criticism here than on any Behemoth record, it must also be said that, on the bonus disc of the Deluxe edition, in addition to various singles with interesting hosted (Brody Dalle, Screaming Females, Brian Aubert, John Doe and Exene Cervenka), there are two covers, of two of the most inflated songs in rock history, Starman and Because the Night: here, two versions of the most intense, heartfelt and enthralling that I have ever heard.
